SUMMARY

Primary duties are to operate WILSON COUNTY TRANSPORTATION Paratransit vans in a safe and timely manner to all
qualified passengers in the service area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Include the following.

  • Complete training and development classes as prodded by the Director/Supervisor.
  • Operate a Paratransit van safely in all types of weather and traffic conditions.
  • Operate a Paratransit van safely in accordance to the printed schedules malting Sure to arrive at the
    appointed
  • Perform pre-trip inspection of assigned van.
  • Interact effectively with disabled and/or mobility device passengers by being always professional and courteous at all times.
  • Must adhere to fight time schedules under varying conditions and still operate the bus in a safe manner.
    Accurately collect and turn in all passenger fares and passenger information.
  • Be a professional representative of Wilson County Transportation Services and it’s management.
  • Some outside work may be required for special events and training.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must after training, possess and maintain a Class B Texas Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a copy of a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Must undergo a DOT physical examination and must have a negative drug screen.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record (not more than two serious motor vehicle violations in the past three (B) years, no DWI’s in a commercial vehicle and not more than one DWI (total).
  • Must be able to communicate in English with the passengers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to den with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTNICATIONS, LICENSE, KEGISTRATIONS

Must have upon completing training, a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but on occasion can be loud.
