Hill Country Transit District

HTG began management services to the HOP in January 2022.

The Hill Country Transit District (HCTD) is a regional public transportation provider. Texas Transportation Code Chapter 458 has authorized HCTD to receive state funds for the provision of public transit services since 1998. HCTD operates a regional transit system, the HOP, through three divisions: the Rural Division, Killeen Urban Division, and Temple Urban Division.

The HCTD serves as an urban transit district for the Killeen and Temple urbanized areas and serves as a rural transit district for nine counties including rural Bell, rural Coryell, Hamilton, rural Lampasas, Llano, Mason, Milam, Mills, and San Saba counties.

The Killeen Urban Division operates both fixed-route and complementary ADA paratransit service (Special Transit Service) within the city limits of Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, and Killeen. The Killeen Urban Division’s service area covers 83.6 percent of the population and 72.1 percent of the land area of the Killeen urbanized area. The Temple Urban Division operates both fixed-route and complementary ADA paratransit service (Special Transit Service) within the city limits of Belton and Temple, covering 89.6 percent of the population and 82.6 percent of the land area of the Temple urbanized area.
